Ronald (“Ron”) Himler (b. Cleveland, Ohio; lives in Tucson, Arizona) is an acclaimed painter and children’s book illustrator whose career spans fine art and literature. Trained at Cleveland Institute of Art and Cranbrook Academy of Art, he first garnered attention illustrating picture books and has since contributed to over 120 children’s titles and hundreds of young-adult book covers .

In 1982, inspired by attending Native American ceremonial dances in the Southwest, Himler began a celebrated series of oil paintings that portray Plains Indian culture with empathy and authenticity.
