Karen Bonnie (born 1951 in Wisconsin) is an American artist celebrated for her evocative portrayals of horses and Western life. Since childhood, she has drawn horses in pencil, and this lifelong passion steered her to careers in commercial photography and graphic design.
In her late 40s, while living in Abiquiu, New Mexico, she discovered a love for oil painting after opening a gallery and shop selling deerskin garments and soon devoted herself fully to art.
Bonnie later moved to Colorado, where she immerses herself in the rugged ranch environment. Whether painting plein‑air with her horse nearby or joining ranch hands on horseback, she deeply observes the bond between humans and animals to enrich her work.
